Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) is a amino acid which acts as a calming agent on the central nervous system (CNS). GABBA has no reported amounts whereby it would be regarded as toxic, however for people with various conditions such as anxiety, depression or other conditions you may want to seek more advice from your doctor before embarking on taking it.
I merely want to focus on the effects it has in terms of two things: growth hormone production for fat loss, and sedative effects in terms of making you sleep better. GABA is sold in various amounts, amounts being mg per capsule. 750mg is a popular amount this could be less or more, but this is the one I have used. Start by taking one capsule on an empty stomach, and see how you get on. I will tell you that you may feel some flushing of the face, mild tingling or slight breathlessness, this only really occurs at higher dosages, so at 750mg you probably won’t feel it.
The inhibitory effects on the brain are reported to reduce anxiety related systems. The main thing when doing any training is you want to get a good nights sleep, so taking this half-an-hour to one-hour before bed is advised.
I actually took two capsules before going to the dentist to have wisdom teeth pulled, and it had a slight sedative/calming effect on the brain. Ultimately that was a non event, but taking GABA did reduce levels of stress etc.
If you are a body builder, then taking 1.5g of a quality GABA supplement would be a good starting point. After that anything up to 7grams would be good, if you are used to the effect. Monitor effects on sleep, I noticed you dream more, but wake up refreshed. It is a good sleep aid, and you can integrate it as part of your diet plan, because research suggests elevated growth hormone production 30 mins after taking it.
