Ketosis is a state whereby the body begins to use stored fat as an energy source.  One enters ketosis, when glycogen levels in the liver are depleted. Glycogen comes from carbohydrates that you eat, such as grains, potatoes and other food types. Ketogenesis occurs in the human body when carbohydrate levels are restricted, starvation occurs or fasting takes place. During this time the body produces what are called ketones. How To Get A Better Leg Workout On An Elliptical Machine
